Samsung launched a free sanitizing service earlier this year for all Galaxy devices. Available through its official service centers and Experience Stores, Samsung"s sanitization device uses UV-C light to kill germs and bacteria on Galaxy phones, Watch, and Buds.
If you want to snag your own sanitizing device, Samsung announced today the global availability of its new sanitizing tool that sterilizes your device using UV light while juicing up its battery wirelessly. It"s built to sterilize your Galaxy smartphones, earbuds, and even glasses. The company claims the UV Sterilizer "kills up to 99% of bacteria and germs, including E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans". This is based on studies conducted by independent test and certification institutes, Intertek and SGS. However, there"s no mention if it can rid your devices of the novel coronavirus.
The sterilizer has dual UV lights that sterilize your devices from the top and bottom for 10 minutes with only a single press of a button. After that period, its UV function will turn off automatically while it continues to wirelessly charge the item inside. The UV Sterilizer measures 196 x 96 x 33 mm, so it can fit various device sizes inside.
Samsung says the device was made available in June when it debuted in Thailand. Now, the product is up for grabs in more markets including Singapore, Romania, Hong Kong, and Germany, where it costs €58.38 (via The Verge).
