Samsung still has a Galaxy Note8 in the works, alongside the Galaxy S8

The Galaxy Note7

The recent happenings regarding the Galaxy Note7 fiasco have undeniably left Samsung scrambling, forcing to recall all of the handsets which posed a safety risk. With this in consideration, the company"s image and reputation were at stake, with analysts urging the Korean tech giant to drop the Note series. However, a new report suggests that this might not be the case in the future.

According to a recent tweet by popular leakster Evan Blass, or simply @evleaks on Twitter, Samsung is working on two Galaxy S8 models for next year, as well as a Galaxy Note8.

Samsung Galaxy S8 models are indeed skipping SM-G94* model numbers, will ship as SM-G950 & SM-G955. Know what else is in the works? SM-N950.

The number 4 is believed to be bad luck in Korea, so the company skipped it, and instead gave an internal codename of SM-N950 to the device, following the SM-N930, which is the codename for the discontinued Galaxy Note7.

Moreover, Blass hinted that both Galaxy S8 devices will sport a dual-edge display. This is a reinforcement of Samsung"s statement back in August, after only introducing the new display feature alongside the usual flat screen starting with the Galaxy S6 edge. Considering that even the Galaxy Note7 was launched with a curved display, this is what we"ll very likely see Samsung come up with its flagship handsets in the near future.
