Samsung teases Galaxy S IV with a new image... of the S III?

A few days ago, we reported on several key details of the specs of Samsung’s Galaxy S IV, which had been revealed by a ‘trusted source’ claiming to have knowledge of such things. Yesterday saw another leak, this time of images purporting to show a Chinese version of the new handset, and apparently confirming some of those specs that had previously leaked.

Samsung has now revealed an official ‘teaser’ image via Twitter @SamsungMobileUS, giving us a glimpse of...well, judge for yourself:

The countdown for #TheNextBigThing has begun. Who’s ready for the Global Unpacked Event on March 14? twitter.com/SamsungMobileU…

Neither the tweet nor the pic attached to it are giving much away; if anything, from what little can be seen, the new device looks for all the world like a Galaxy S III. In fact, if that"s actually the new S IV, it doesn"t appear to have changed very much at all over its predecessor.

Still, if you were expecting a drastic design overhaul, bear in mind that the S III has been a phenomenal sales success with over 40m units sold in its first seven months on sale, and Samsung will be unlikely to want to mess too much with that winning formula. Even so, could Samsung be having a little bit of fun with us by teasing its new handset with a picture of the old one?

With the new handset finally being launched on the 14th, at least we don’t have to wait too long until the S IV steps out of the shadows and into the spotlight.
