Samsung, one of the worlds largest handset providers, has stated that they are going to shift their focus and place more emphasis on WP7 than Android. The statement came from Sitthichoke Nopchinabutr, head of mobile marketing in Thai Samsung Electronics" Telecommunication Unit, who indicated that Samsung belives that its growth opportunities are with WP7.
Next year, Samsung will introduce 15 to 20 new smart-phone models using Android, Windows, and Brada operating systems. For every 50 smart phones using Windows, it will make 24 using Android and five using Brada.
The statement comes from asiaone.com (via wpcentral.com) as a bit of a shock considering how well the Samsung Galaxy S line has been adopted by the masses. This report comes as a big win for Microsoft as Samsung, currently the #2 producer of cell phones in the world, has the ability to not only craft top notch devices, but to also market them effectively too.
Microsoft is dependant on third party manufactures to produce WP7 devices. With Samsung fully backing the WP7 platform and making it the priority for 2011, we can expect a wave of quality devices to hit the marketplace in the near future.
