Samsung to start producing NAND flash memory chips.

With mobile gear getting smaller as time goes on, the demand for a smaller storage device has increased. With that in mind, Samsung has recently begun production of its new NAND flash memory chips.

The new chips which use a 70nm process are only one stage more advanced than that of current 90nm flash memory technology. Using this new process, Samsung claims it will produce up to 60 percent more chips from a single wafer. Analysts say that this new process could halve the current price for NAND chips, which may lead to memory cards retailing for a fifth less than what the cost now.
