Samsung is set to unveil a new generation of its Exynos mobile chipsets next week, on November 14. The company used its dedicated Twitter page to tease the announcement today with the message "Intelligence from within", though no additional details were provided.
Based on that message, the focus for the new SoC will likely be artificial intelligence, which seems to be the trend these days. In August, Huawei announced the Kirin 980, the world"s first commercial 7nm chipset, with two neural processing units for that same purpose.
Samsung recently announced the beginning of production of 7nm chips, so the new Exynos chipset will probably adopt a similar die size, joining Huawei"s offering. If past experience is any indication, Qualcomm should announce its own flagship chipset for the next year sooner rather than later, leveraging the 7nm node and offering support for 5G through the X50 modem.
Depending on your region, the new Exynos processors are likely to power Samsung"s flagships in 2019, including the Galaxy S10 and the foldable smartphone the company showed off at its developer conference earlier this week.
