Samsung has been quickly expanding the reach of its Samsung TV Plus service in the past few months, giving users free access to a range of TV channels from around the world on Samsung smart TVs. Now, the service is growing once again with 10 new markets joining the fray, following the recent expansion to Brazil, Australia, and Mexico.
The new countries getting Samsung TV Plus include India and nine European countries - the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg, Ireland, and Portugal. India is the first market to get the service, with it already being available as of March 30, and in addition to 22 global channels, it includes five local Indian channels. This expansion brings Samsung TV Plus to a total of 23 countries around the world and more than 1,000 across all regions.
While Samsung TV Plus is mostly available on smart TVs, the company is also expanding its availability on smartphones. Currently, only users in the United States can use the service on their Samsung phone, but its coming to Canada, the UK, Germany, and India in April. France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and Austria will also get it in the first half of the year.
Samsung is also adding more channels to its TV lineup, like the new Loupe 4K channel that launched in the U.S. last week, streaming art with synchronized music all day. And for those who use the service"s video-on-demand (VOD) offerings, Samsung recently updated the player interface on its TVs to make it simpler and more intuitive. You can also expect more VOD content to be added over time.
