Samsung UK rolling out Android 8.0 beta 4 to Galaxy S8 and S8+ testers

While Google is gearing up to unleash a reportedly "touchy" and buggy Android 8.1 onto the world, you may be forgiven for forgetting that Samsung is still - through its pool of volunteer testers in the United States, the UK, or South Korea - testing Android 8.0 on its flagships Galaxy S8 and S8+.

The Samsung Experience 9.0 beta launched back in the beginning of November, and fast forward to today, Samsung is reportedly rolling out version ZQL8 to eligible Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ handsets in the United Kingdom. The Android 8.0 Oreo beta 4 update weighs in at 850MB and fixes a ton of issues from earlier betas.

Below, typed over from the changelog, you can see that beta 4 fixes quite a number of issues.

UK Beta Team

However, the screenshots over on SamMobile do not show if there is a "known issues" section that beta testers should be worried about, but testers can be happy that the excessive battery consumption bug has been fixed, as well as sync errors with Samsung Cloud; not randomly vibrating or rebooting helps too.

According to a "Samsung representative," normal S8 and S8+ users will not see the final version of Android 8.0 until the end of January or February next year, and such roll outs usually always follow a "soak test" of updates first throughout India, which will be an indicator as to when the rest of the world will start receiving the next major update of Android after Nougat (Android 7.0).

There"s no word if users in the United States or South Korea have received a Beta 4 update, since the changelog seems region specific, getting signed off by the "Samsung UK Beta Team."
