Samsung introduced its newest mini-tablet today, the 8.4-inch Galaxy Tab A. The big feature on this one is that it comes with cellular connectivity at a price point of just $279.99. It also has an all-metal design for "a premium finish and lightweight feel", and Samsung is promising up to 10 hours of battery life.
Indeed, entry-level to mid-range tablets with cellular connectivity are somewhat rare. This one includes a 1.8GHz octa-core Exynos processor, 3GB RAM, and 32GB of on-board storage. It does include support for microSD expansion though. The battery is 5,000 mAh, and it has an 8.4-inch 1920x1200 16:10 display.
You can also use the tablet with Samsung Kids+, allowing parents to give their kids educational screen time. It"s free for the first 30 days, and the second month is just $0.49. After that, the service is $7.99 a month.
The new 8.4-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A is available now from Samsung.com in a Verizon variant. In the coming weeks, it will also be available from AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular.
