Back in August, Samsung confirmed a list of devices which it said it was planning to upgrade to the latest version of Android. Today, it seems that the company is making preparations for those upgrades, as it has launched a beta program for Android 6.0 Marshmallow in South Korea.
As SamMobile reports, Samsung is inviting owners of its Galaxy S6 and S6 edge on South Korea"s KT and LG U+ mobile networks to sign up for the program. Those who meet the requirements can download the Galaxy Care app from Google Play or Samsung"s own app store, in order to apply to test a preview of the new OS on their devices.
The beta test will continue until January 18th, which suggests that Samsung may not begin a general rollout of the OS upgrade until the end of January at the earliest. A report in November claimed to have revealed a leaked Samsung roadmap, stating that the update would begin rolling out to some devices this month.
Google released Android 6.0 Marshmallow two and a half months ago, but as of the beginning of December, it had made its way to just 0.5% of active Android devices.
