Samsung today sent out invitations for its next Galaxy Unpacked event. This time, it will be to announce the Galaxy Note7, and yes, the invitation confirms the name.
The name, of course, is one of the most interesting things about the device (that we currently know about). The Note7 will proceed the Note5, so where is the Galaxy Note6? Let"s allow Samsung to explain:
First and foremost though, you might be curious as to why it’s called Galaxy Note7 instead of Galaxy Note6. There are a couple reasons why. First, the Galaxy Note7 will complement our Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and unify our product portfolio. Second, the Galaxy Note7 will minimize confusion about the latest mobile technology from Samsung, and provide full alignment with Galaxy S smartphone.
Samsung"s Galaxy Note7 is rumored to be among the first to use Qualcomm"s newest Snapdragon 821 chipset. We"re also expecting a 5.7" 1440p Super AMOLED display, a 12 MP rear camera, 5 MP front camera, 64GB of internal storage with SD card support, and an iris scanner.
The event will take place on August 2 in New York City at 11am. There will also be parallel events in Rio de Janeiro at noon and in London at 4:00pm.
