Last year, Samsung announced that its Galaxy Note 5 would not be offered in Europe - a decision that confused many, given the apparent popularity of previous devices in the Note range. However, it seems that the company may be preparing to reverse that decision in one European market, at least, when it launches the next version of the device.
According to TechRadar, a source "high up at one of the UK"s major networks" revealed that Samsung will sell the Galaxy Note 6 in the UK, but added that the company has dropped plans to offer the Galaxy S7 edge+ there. The source said:
Samsung isn"t going to launch the S7 Edge+ in the UK. I got the impression that it had been a bit of a disappointment sales-wise and that the decision to keep the Note 5 out of Europe is now considered a mistake. So our information is that the Note 6 will launch in the UK in August and that there will be no S7 Edge+.
The source was also speaking in the presence of Forbes which, bizarrely, decided to report the news under the headline "Samsung Has Cancelled The Galaxy S7 Edge+ After Consumer Backlash", despite the fact that the source made no claim that the device has been cancelled outright, and referred specifically and exclusively to availability of the device in the UK alone.
Samsung is set to unveil the smaller Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge later this month, ahead of Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona.
