Rumors have been flying around for a few days that Samsung might be preparing to launch a new color version for the Galaxy S7 edge. The new color, known as “Glossy Black” is very much what it sounds like, and expected to go head to head with Apple’s “Jet Black” devices. Now, the first images of a Glossy Black Galaxy S7 edge have leaked.
The images come from a Samsung executive in China, who posted what’s clearly a black Galaxy S7 edge, with a new coat of polish on top. The device looks very similar to the “Black Onyx” color scheme available since the launch of this year’s S7 devices, but has an extra layer of shinny gloss on top. The device in the images does look quite impressive. It’ll be interesting to see if Samsung’s Glossy Black finish will be as prone to scratching and scuffing as Apple’s glossy devices.
It’s also a bit unclear if this new color version will launch worldwide. The recent launch of the Blue Coral variant of the S7 edge gives users some hope, as the new color option is available in multiple markets.
Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed the new Glossy Black models yet, but the color scheme is expected to become available quite soon, so you can look forward to an official announcement any day now.
