Samsung today announced new smart TVs that it"s adding to its lineup for 2018, including new devices from its UHD, Premium UHD, and QLED lines.
One of the key features is called One Invisible Connection. Currently, Samsung"s smart TVs have two cables that come out of them. There"s one for power, and another for audio/video that connects to a box, which includes various ports for HDMI and such. But there"s only one thing that could be better for cable management than two cables. That"s right; there"s only one cable for both power and audio/video. This is limited to the Q7 and higher QLED models, with the exception of Q8F.
There"s also Ambient Mode. When you"re not watching your TV, it can play music, or show news, traffic, and weather updates. You can even set it so that it mimics the pattern of the wall, so that it blends in, as seen in the image above.
The new devices will include Bixby, and with the SmartThings app, you can control your smart home devices. This also allows for voice control, and that includes the Universal Guide, so you can direct your TV to watch different channels, or tune into Netflix.
The new Q8F and Q9F QLED TVs will use Direct Full Array, which uses different zones of backlighting. This allows for truer blacks, similar to what you"d see on OLED but without the burn-in drawback.
All of the products announced today will be available this month, and that includes Q9F (65”, 75”, 88”), Q8F (55”, 65”, 75”), Q7C (55”, 65”), Q7F (55”, 65”, 75”) and Q6F (49”, 55”, 65”, 75”, 82”). Premium UHD models are the NU8500 and NU8000, and UHD models are the NU7100 (75”, 65”, 55”, 50”, 43”, 40") and NU7300 (65”, 55").
Samsung also announced new audio products. Also available in March, new soundbars include the HW-N950, HW-N650, and HW-NW700. The HW-N950 has front-firing, up-firing, and side-firing speakers for Dolby Atmos surround sound. The HW-N650 is designed for gamers with Accoustic Beam Technology, and the HW-NW700 has a design to complement and blend in with QLED TVs. Finally, the VL550 is a "unique metal dial" that can be attached to a metallic surface to control music.
