Samsung"s next smartwatch has passed through Thailand"s regulatory body NBTC which has revealed its name and dimensions. Samsung had launched the Galaxy Watch Active2 last year in July, but its next wearable is going to be called the Galaxy Watch 3. It will be available in two variants: 41mm and 45mm. Samsung never really launched a Galaxy Watch 2, so the company is tweaking its naming scheme here to probably make it clear to customers that the Galaxy Watch 3 is going to be a newer and better model than the Galaxy Watch Active2.
The Galaxy Watch 3 is going to feature one of the biggest design highlights of Samsung"s smartwatches: a physical rotating bezel. Samsung ditched the physical rotating bezel on the Galaxy Watch Active series and had switched to a virtual bezel on them. While unique, it was still a downgrade from the physical rotating bezel which made navigation a breeze on the Galaxy Watch smartwatches. The listing also confirms the Galaxy Watch 3 will feature LTE connectivity.
Other specs of the smartwatch have not yet leaked, but it is expected that Samsung will focus on further improving the health tracking aspect of the wearable and use more accurate sensors for the same. Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Watch 3 alongside the Galaxy Note20 series and Galaxy Fold 2 in August later this year.
