Today, Samsung announced Remote Access, a feature that"s designed to connect your TV to your PC, tablet, or smartphone. The idea is for users to be able to control content more easily on their Smart TV, and you can even connect a keyboard and mouse.
One of the key features though is that you can display your content on the larger screen that is your TV. Details are still pretty hazy, but it seems similar in concept to Samsung"s DeX feature, which allows you to connect a Galaxy handset to a monitor and use it in a desktop environment.
“Samsung is committed to creating an intuitive and convenient user experience for consumers. With Remote Access, consumers will be able to easily access various programs, apps and cloud services installed on multiple connected devices directly through their TV screen,” said Hyogun Lee, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to collaborate with our partners to expand the compatibility of Remote Access and provide more services to our users.”
All of it works wirelessly, and you can use Remote Access from anywhere in the world, Samsung partnered with VMWare Horizon to achieve this, so you should be able to use the feature for collaboration with someone that"s not in the same room. Indeed, productivity is a clear goal here, and Samsung pointed out that browser-based cloud office services can be used with the feature.
Remote Access will be available on Samsung"s Smart TVs in 2019, although it wasn"t clear on which ones, or if it will be available on all of them.
