In the six months that Epic Games Store has been active and selling its share of exclusives, almost no firm numbers have been shared in regards to sales. But today, Coffee Stain Studios, the developer behind the factory building sim on PC Satisfactory, shared just how successful it has been on the Epic Games Store.
Coffee Stain community manager Jace Varlet took to YouTube and revealed Satisfactory has sold exactly 507,374 copies since it released in an early access state in March, hitting this number in less than three months exclusively on the Epic Games Store. Varlet called this launch Coffee Stain"s best yet - perhaps helped by Epic"s generous 88/12 revenue split - saying it exceeded all of the studio"s expectations even with it being in such a niche genre.
The THQ Nordic-owned developer is currently working towards version 1.0 and launching the game out of early access. Varlet has confirmed before that Satisfactory is a timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store, and that the studio can bring it to any other storefronts 12 months following launch.
Although companies like Ubisoft have revealed rising pre-order and launch numbers after leaving Steam behind for Epic Games Store, as these games are also available through Uplay, it"s hard to gauge their success solely on Epic"s storefront. So Coffee Stain"s numbers should be helpful in this regard going forward.
Like it or not, Epic Games will have more exclusives to announce during E3, with some of it expected to be revealed during the PC Gaming Show on Monday.
