We hear a lot of stories regarding children committing crimes when parents prevent them from playing video games or when parents refuse to buy them games or consoles. The latest example, reported by Yahoo News, involved a four-year-old Saudi boy shooting his father in the head while playing with his gun at their house, reportedly after his parent refused to buy him a PlayStation console.
The shooting occurred after the boy and his father returned home from the shop. The man, in his forties, put down his pistol while taking off his shirt, but he failed to notice that his son had grabbed his gun and was playing with it before putting his little finger on the trigger.
The father died instantly. Arabic media has already labelled the boy the youngest killer in Saudi Arabia.
The tragic death will no doubt fuel the endless debate over whether or not children are being negatively influenced by increasingly violent computer games. What are your views on the topic? Be sure to let us know your thoughts below.
