We"ve recently reported that Microsoft is working on bringing a personal digital assistant (Cortana) to the Office apps on Windows Phone, and according to some sources, it will also be present in the desktop version of the productivity suite.
Not too long ago, a mysterious app called “Work Assistant” was spotted in the Windows Phone Store, and according to Mary Jo Foley"s sources, Bill Gates is deeply involved with the project reportedly lead by Julie Larson-Green, Microsoft"s chief experience officer of its applications and services team.
Just recently WindowsBlogItalia posted several screenshots that offer a closer look at what the new app, which is supposed to "help you go back and find things and help you pick what things to pay attention to."
Opening the app will get you to a hub holding all of your Office documents.
As per WindowsBlogItalia, the personal digital assistant can accept voice commands such as open, search, and share Office files, and only works with English, which is not unexpected at this point. The above image shows some helpful tips on how to use the "work assistant".
We don"t know if Microsoft will release this app anytime soon, although it"s good to see that the Redmond giant is working to deliver on the promise that it hasn"t given up on Windows Phone.
