The next game from Minecraft developer Mojang, Scrolls, is getting closer to being offered to the public. Today, the game"s official website got a relaunch along with word that the closed alpha for the collectible card-based fantasy RPG game should begin soon.
The site states:
We are rapidly approaching the closed alpha of Scrolls. Although this alpha version will be far from a feature complete version of the game, it will include multiplayer matches, single player matches vs AI and the Deck Builder, where you can build your decks out of the 100+ scrolls that currently exist in the game.
The closed alpha testing will be followed by an open beta, where like the original release of Minecraft, people will be able to purchase the game at a reduced price "with some added benefits."
In August 2011, Mojang got hit with a lawsuit from Bethesda Softworks. The lawsuit claimed that Mojang was violating Bethesda"s trademark by using the name Scrolls. At the time, Bethesda said the name was too close to its own Elder Scrolls franchise. In March, both companies announced a settlement to the lawsuit that allowed Mojang to continue to use the name Scrolls for their game but gave the trademark to Bethesda Softworks.
