Google and Microsoft have a touchy relationship and Microsoft’s attempt to build a YouTube app for Windows Phone has resulted in Google blocking the application, twice.
Microsoft relaunched the YouTube application that it created two days ago but Google has decided the new application is still not up to their standards (they cite their TOS as the reason they blocked the app).
This is clearly another blow to the relationship between Google and Microsoft as Google has not been receptive to the launch of Windows Phone. Currently, Google does not support the OS with any of its products and dropped support for features that made it easy to add Google based email accounts to Windows Phone devices.
The Verge got the following statement from Google about the blocking of the YouTube application:
Microsoft has not made the browser upgrades necessary to enable a fully-featured YouTube experience, and has instead re-released a YouTube app that violates our Terms of Service
For those of you with a Windows Phone and want to enjoy YouTube on your mobile device, for now, at least, you will have to look for other alternatives to this app as Google and Microsoft try to amend their childish tit for tat game.
Microsoft has stated that they are working with Google to resolve the issue but there is no timeline for a potential resolution.
