Sea of Thieves Forsaken Shores gets pushed back a week to ensure stability

Not just yet

Sea of Thieves players will have to wait a week longer to get their mitts on the next major content update to the game, as Rare has announced that Forsaken Shores has been delayed by a week. This is something that the developer warned that could happen last week in case of any unexpected issues that might pop up while the update was in testing.

Originally slated to launch tomorrow to coincide with the International Talk Like a Pirate Day, the update would have introduced the new volcanic region, rowboats, as well as all the new gameplay mechanics that Rare has been teasing for some time.

Possibly to avoid another situation like the 1.2.4 update which turned out to be quite buggy, the developer said that it is taking the extra time to make sure this new update will be a stable one:

This was not a decision that was taken lightly, and we know this may disappoint fans who were looking to play the update this week. That said, our priority is to deliver a stable, polished and bug-free experience and we feel that the extra week of development will enable us to do this.

The Pioneers, a group of players under NDA that are selected to test out upcoming content, were also thanked for their bug reports and feedback, and they should see new updates bearing fixes being rolled out to their early build this week.

Naturally, dropping the new content on the Talk Like a Pirate Day would have been ideal, but ensuring a stable experience for all players is the more important goal to strive towards. With the delay, pirates of Sea of Thieves will now be able to sail to the Devil"s Roar on September 27 barring any more interruptions.
