Sea of Thieves, the pirate adventure game Rare launched in 2018 as a Microsoft platform exclusive, has finally set sail on Steam, sticking to the schedule that was announced last month. Steam users can now jump into the title that has been played by over 10 million users on Xbox One, Windows 10, and Xbox Game Pass.
As the Steam version also requires a free Xbox Live account to play, cross-progression with other platforms is available for anyone looking to jump over. They will need to purchase a new copy on Steam, unlike on Xbox and PC via the Microsoft Store. Moreover, cross-play capabilities are enabled across all three platforms.
The game has been receiving content updates every month since its release, including story quests, new regions, enemies, bosses, raids, fishing, global events, pets, and much more. The most recent major update, Lost Treasures, landed last week, bringing in a hoard of recurring events and improvements to the Tall Tale story quests, including checkpoints, among other features.
