Sea of Thieves: The Hungering Deep content update launches May 29, trailer released

Rare has been teasing about Sea of Thieves" first major content update for some time, and the developer has now released a teaser trailer revealing the release date to be May 29 as well as some hints on what could emerge from the deep on that day, but without any specifics.

It does appear that a megalodon or at least something resembling one will be involved in some form, which could be the new AI threat that the developer previously said will be included in the update. Unlike the game"s current Kraken encounter, however, it seems multiple crews will have to work together to defeat this ancient terror from the deep this time.

The update is also said to carry new gameplay mechanics and some unique rewards for players to earn.

Following The Hungering Deep, which is described as a "medium-sized update," Rare has two more major content updates lined up to arrive in the summer: Cursed Sails and Forsaken Shores. These are said to be much more significant in size, carrying even more AI threats, a new ship type, as well as a new part of the world to explore.
