Metal Gear first made its debut in 1987 under the direction of Hideo Kojima. During the 30 years since, Kojima has created and helmed numerous sequels that have been critically acclaimed. While each iteration of the game has seen improvement, none seemed more dramatic than that of Metal Gear Solid for the PlayStation. This was the first title in the Metal Gear series to bring about 3D graphics, making the environments and stealth elements truly come to life. Although the title has been previously re-released for newer consoles, an indie developer is looking to take the game to new heights with help from Unreal Engine 4.
"Shadow Moses" is a Metal Gear Solid (MGS) remake that is being built on Unreal Engine 4. While the title is still in its early stages, a short trailer has been released that should give any MGS fan a bit of excitement. Naturally, this project could come to screeching halt, if Konami decides to sic its lawyers at the inspired developer.
As for future Metal Gear titles, Konami will undoubtedly produce more, but with Kojima"s departure, many will consider Phantom Pain a swan song and the end of an era. Luckily, Kojima has partnered with Sony to create a new title exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
