SharePoint mobile apps now support custom organization theming and branding

The SharePoint mobile apps will now support the customization of the app’s theme to match the organization’s branding. The company today announced that admins will now be able to customize the tenant theme of the organization’s SharePoint apps through Microsoft 365 admin center. This can be done to reflect the company’s brand and guidelines.

The Redmond giant says that the feature is based on user requests. It adds that the users will begin to automatically see the updated tenant theme on the app’s iOS and Android versions if the configuration has been done by the admins. Customization options include the company’s logo, accent color, and more.

Here is the list of the aspects that can be configured in the SharePoint mobile apps:

  1. Logo Image: Logo of SVG format (Images uploaded in any other format will not display in the app)
  2. Nav Bar Color: This is background color that appears in the background of the nav bar for all 3 tabs. (Please note sites will not be impacted by this nav bar color input).
  3. Text and Icon Color: This section input affects text and icons color on the navigation bar
  4. Accent Color: This input will affect buttons, links and other elements defined on the app for branding.

It should be noted that the app needs to be updated to the latest version for the themes to show up. Admins can head to the documentation here for more information on the customization procedures. While it is not a major addition, the ability to theme the mobile versions of the app brings more consistency with the customization options for the web. You can head to the Play Store here or the App Store here to download the apps or check for updates.
