Sharp has announced five new models of their AQUOS HD recorders that will be available in Japan later this month. The top of the line model, the DV-ACW60, has the most hard drive space to date (1TB) while the lowest capacity of all the five models is 250GB. Three of the new models (DV-ACW60, ACW55 and ACW52) include a high-speed infrared system that allows the fast transfer of photographs from mobile phones and digital cameras, all of which can be saved as an album. The high-definition recorders also allow users to simultaneously record two programs in full-spec HD from an AQUOS LCD TV.
All models also have a quick activation function that allows users to activate a recorder from the standby mode in only .08 seconds, which Sharp claims is an industry first. The DV-ACW60 will retail for $1,650, the 500GB DV-ACW55 will retail for $1,155 (dual tuner) and $908 (single tuner) while the 250GB DV-ACW52 will retail for $908 (dual tuner) and the DV-AC52 will go for $743 (single tuner).
