Sega announced back in April that it is working on a re-release of the classic Dreamcast action-adventure series, Shenmue, for modern platforms, aiming to keep the games true to the originals while adding some additional enhancements to polish them up. Today, the publisher revealed that the collection containing both games will release on August 21 in both digital and physical forms.
The new features that have been added to the games include scalable resolutions, updated UI elements, PC graphics options, modern and classic control schemes to choose from, and the inclusion of both Japanese and English voice work.
In the announcement, the company goes on to call this release the "definitive version" and the "best Shenmue experience to date."
The Shenmue I & II pack is slated to arrive for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, with pre-orders available now for $29.99. However, note that there is a 10% pre-order discount attached to the Steam version, bringing it down to $26.99.
Meanwhile, those opting for the physical edition will be going home with some extra goodies, which include a double-sided poster featuring characters from the game as well as a reversible sleeve that has the game"s original artwork on the back.
