The development team at French-based Nadeo are best known for their Trackmania games, which combined arcade racing with some puzzle elements and an easy-to-use track editor. In 2011, Nadeo released Trackmania 2: Canyon, the latest game in the series. Now the team is working on their next game and it"s in a totally different genre.
Today, publisher Ubisoft released the first gameplay trailer for Shootmania Storm. It"s a sci-fi multiplayer shooter title that looks, and apparently plays, a bit like classic Tribes. The video shows that the game will not only support lots of players online at once but some rather large outdoor levels.
If you watch the trailer all the way to the end, you will see a credit roll where more features of Shootmania Storm are revealed. Among them will be a map editor, scripting tools, ways to create your own gameplay movies, offline LAN support and more.
Shootmania Storm is scheduled to go into beta testing soon-ish and should be officially released sometime before the end of 2012. Hopefully we will see more of the game at E3 this June.
Nadeo is also supposed to be working on an RPG game, Questmania, but so far no details about that title have been announced.
