Stardock has announced yesterday that their real-time strategy game Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion has "crushed the existing records" to become their fastest selling title in their history. Rebellion was released in mid-June as a standalone expansion to their previous 2008 game Sins of a Solar Empire, and both games have been a critical success.
In just a month, Rebellion has gone on to sell over 100,000 units, and they mention that the game was the first Stardock title to be released via digital download only. Stardock CEO Brad Wardell notes that releasing via digital channels has its benefits, such as the ability to announce the game only when it has reached an acceptable quality level.
For a small studio such as Stardock seeing large sales like this it is great for the PC gaming community. Currently, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is available for $40 through channels such as Steam.
