Print magazines have seen better days, as major publications either shut down completely or migrate over to being delivered over the Internet. Today, the well-known entertainment magazine Complex announced it will make the entire June/July print issue of its magazine available for free online via Microsoft"s SkyDrive cloud storage service.
The PDF file will remain on the SkyDrive page until the end of June. PCWorld.com reports that this is the first time Microsoft has collaborated with a publisher to present their content on SkyDrive. A Microsoft rep stated, "First and foremost ... SkyDrive is a consumer focused service, so the team simply worked with Complex to make their consumer-facing content available on SkyDrive, highlighting all that SkyDrive is capable of for the day-to-day consumer."
In addition to the issue itself, the digital version of Complex on SkyDrive will also have some extra content, including showing high-resolution covers of its past print magazine issues. PCWorld also reports that Microsoft will announce a similar partnership on Thursday with a company that offers content with a pop culture theme.
The financial terms of this Complex-SkyDrive partnership was not revealed. However, it"s possible that Microsoft is trying to get more print magazines to use SkyDrive to store their digital editions in the future.
