Well your wish might have come true today if you own a compatible Android phone. Today Skype officially announced and launched support for video calls for some Android-based phones. They include the HTC Desire S, the Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, the Sony Ericsson Xperia pro and the Google Nexus S. More phones are expected to support the new Android Skype app in the future.
The new feature will allow people who own those phones to make free video calls to other Skype users with PCs, Macs, iPhone, and Skype enabled televisions. The video phone features will work with both WiFi and 3G wirEless connections. Of course, Skype also allows for calls to landlines at paid rates. There"s also a new interface for the Skype Android app in this new version. According to the press release, "There"s a new main menu on the Skype app for Android where users can navigate easily through their contacts, access their Skype profile to change personal details or see the balance of their Skype Credit."
Finally if you want to let your friends know what kind of a mood you are in today, the new Android Skype app adds "a new mood message box at the top of the Skype app menu" that lets users let others know if they are feeling good or bad.
