There are a lot of Skype users but many of them likely don"t use the paid portions of Microsoft"s VoIP service. Today, the company announced a way for anyone to give Skype credit to anyone else in the US in the form of both virtual and real Skype gift cards
Skype"s official blog has the details of this new feature, which will include physical sales of gift cards in Microsoft Stores, Target and OfficeMax. However, users can also choose to send e-gift cards via the Skype website and its Facebook page, with prices beginning at $10.
Indeed, Skype has also released a new infographic, shown below, that compares the value of $10 of Skype credit compared gallons of gas and milk, gold and more.
Microsoft"s acquisition of Skype in 2011 has proven to be pretty fruitful for the company, at least so far. Microsoft has integrated Skype in many of its programs and recently announced that Skype would replace the older Microsoft Live Messenger in early 2013. Recently, there was a bit of a security scare when it was found that anyone could hijack a Skype account. However, Microsoft quickly fixed the exploit a few hours after it was discovered.
