Slack last week unveiled a revamped design for its Android app that introduced a tabbed interface, dropping the hamburger menu altogether. Today, the service is rolling out its new UI and features to its iOS app as part of a new update.
Like its Android version, the overhauled Slack for iOS brings with it a fresh navigation bar at the bottom that provides quick access to four tabs: Home, DMs, Mentions, and You (for your profile). These sections used to be accessible only via the hamburger menu in the previous design of the app. With the latest change, you can now view the list of channels and direct messages as well as options to invite people or create a new DM and Channel in Home. There"s also a new floating compose button at the bottom right corner of the app to quickly launch the window for creating a new DM or message in a channel. Slack also made the Jump To box "more prominent (and smarter)".
In addition, Slack adds a new lightning bolt under the message box to give you a quick access to shortcuts. A new feature in this update is the ability to swipe right in order to open your workspace and preferences and swipe left to return to your most recent conversation. The updated Slack is available to download today via the App Store.
