Snap Inc, the firm behind Snapchat, has announced Spectacles 3, it’s latest attempt at camera-equipped sunglasses. The new model comes in two colours, Carbon and Mineral and includes HD cameras near each eye to capture depth and dimensions similarly to eyes. The glasses also let users record videos in 3D at 60 fps, all with high-fidelity audio.
The new sunglasses are quite expensive coming in at $380 / £330 / €370, which is more expensive than the Nico, Veronica, and Original editions that are still on sale. For that price, you do not only receive the glasses but also a full-grain leather case with a microfibre interior that protects the glasses. When not in use, the case folds flat making it easy to put in your pocket or bag.
To charge Spectacles 3, you just have to pop them into their case which will start charging them up. The case can hold up to four charges at a time and a couple of LEDs will inform you how many charges are remaining.
Snap Inc has opened up pre-orders for Spectacles 3 and plans to begin shipping the devices some time in the fall. You can reserve your order by heading over to Spectacles.com.
