Snap has announced that Snap Map, available on Snapchat, will give users personal recommendations through a feature called My Places. The new feature will allow you to discover 30 million businesses, log your favourite local spots so others can experience them, and find personalised recommendations from your friends and the wider community.
It’s no secret that the proliferation of social media has seemingly lessened people’s real-life interactions. With My Places, Snap hopes that more people will get outdoors to connect with their friends in real life, hopefully in the best business venues and the hotly recommended places in the local area.
While My Places makes Snap Map that bit more helpful, the firm is not finished with its plans to make the map more helpful. It said that later this year, it will be adding Layers from The Infatuation and Ticketmaster to boost the ways you can explore. If you’ve not heard of these services, The Infatuation is a restaurant recommendation service and Ticketmaster sells tickets to concerts, sports, arts, theatre, and family events.
To check out the new My Places feature in Snapchat, you’ll need to open Snap Map by pressing the furthest left icon in the bottom bar, then you’ll need to tap the new Places button at the bottom of the Snap Map. If you don’t see it yet, it’ll be available soon.
