While retro consoles have been around for quite some time, most, if not all, were simply licensed goods. That all changed when Nintendo released the NES Classic, following up with the SNES Classic a year later. Now that Nintendo has found a way to turn nostalgia into dollars, other firms are following suit, with Sega announcing its Mega Drive Mini last week and now, SNK making an announcement of its own retro console.
The tweet came from the SNK Global account and was posted in Japanese. According to a translation, the firm intends to release a new game machine to celebrate the firm"s 40th anniversary. The unit will contain popular titles from its long history like King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Metal Slug, and Samurai Shodown.
At this point, that is all the information there is. It is uncertain whether this gaming console will see a global release or if it will be exclusive to Japan. But, we should hear more from SNK when the time comes closer to the console"s release.
