Early on Friday morning in the US, a number of online services at Microsoft, including Office 365, Outlook.com and SkyDrive, got hit with some downtime that lasted over an hour. Microsoft later said the issues were due to some issues following "routine maintenance" but did not go into details.
On Friday evening, another Microsoft online service, the Bing.com search site, had some issues that lasted for close to two hours for some users. The Next Web reports that many people were unable to bring up Bing on their PCs, although the problems did not seem to extend to all Windows users. Bing"s search app for Windows 8 also appeared to be unaffected by the problems.
Microsoft admitted to the downtime, saying in a statement, "Microsoft is aware that Bing is experiencing isolated technical issues and some users may be impacted." Shortly after that statement was sent out, Bing.com was restored for all PC users, but so far Microsoft has not said what has caused this new outage.
Besides the Bing and Office 365 issues on Friday, Microsoft"s Xbox Live service also had some extended downtime on Tuesday night. All in all, it sounds like it was a busy week for the IT workers at Microsoft.
