If you own a Lumia 930, especially an unlocked version, you might want to look for updates right about now, as a new critical patch is rolling out to some users.
Unfortunately this isn’t Update 2, which is only rolling out to select devices. Instead it’s just a patch designed to fix an issue where Lumia 930s would randomly reboot. The patch was spotted by some users who were getting update prompts seemingly out of the blue. It’s not clear yet which carriers and locations are getting the update.
Microsoft officially acknowledged the roll-out and the bug that it fixes, though the company failed to provide any further information. According to their post:
We identified a problem in some versions of Windows Phone 8.1 that could cause a phone to restart periodically. A critical update will fix this problem.
After the update, users are left with OS version 8.10.14226.359 and Firmware revision number 02540.00019.14522.26006.
There’s no indication of any other changes present, but fixing random reboots is always a good thing. Let us know if you’ve encountered this issue before and whether this update fixed it in the comments below.
Update: The update is also rolling out to Lumia"s 730, 830 and the 1520 in India.
