Some Microsoft Store buyers getting $150 gift card for delayed Lumia 1020 shipments

Microsoft started taking pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 1020 earlier this month on the Microsoft Store website, with the added offer of a free Nokia Camera Grip that also serves as an extra battery for the phone. However, it appears that some people who pre-ordered the phone later got word that the Lumia 1020 was on back order and would not ship as expected on July 26.

Today, at least one Microsoft Store pre-order customer got some good news, according to a story at WMPoweruser.com. Not only is the Lumia 1020 shipping out this week, a few days later than planned, but Microsoft is offering a free $150 Microsoft Store gift card to the customer as compensation for the delays in shipments. The gift card is being sent in the form of a promo code that can be used on the store"s website.

The only small catch is that the promo code can only be used on purchases of $150 or more but that"s a minor quibble. We are pretty sure that this customer is not alone and that Microsoft has likely extended this offer to other people who pre-ordered the Lumia 1020 from the site.
