Sony debuts 'wearable' digicam

Electronics giant Sony hopes to turn digital cameras into a daily accessory.

Slightly smaller than a credit card, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-U10"s form factor allows it to be easily slipped into pockets or worn with a neck strap.

Targeted at fashion-conscious consumers, the device is being positioned as an accessory rather than a photo imaging tool. "The camera is set to create a new trend for digital imaging and will change the way people use digital cameras

Measuring 84.5 x 39.8 x 28.6mm and weighing 118g, the DSC-U10 runs on two AAA-sized batteries, and comes equipped with an 8MB Memory Stick, a fixed focus lens and video recording capability for short MPEG movie (non-audio) clips of up to 15 seconds.
