Sony and Guerrilla Games today announced Horizon Zero Dawn sequel Horizon Forbidden West during the PlayStation 5 Future of Gaming digital event. The next-gen open-world action game will see the return of Aloy for a new adventure set in new parts of the robotic animal-filled world. Check out the trailer released during the showcase above.
Guerrilla Games is taking players to America for the sequel, but a long time after the cities fell. It looks like some sort of a diseased plant is killing the real animals and crops of the original region, which is forcing Aloy to journey towards new lands to find a solution. In the trailer, we see the ruins of the old civilization and iconic locations that are now under deserts, underwater, and across snowy landscapes. As expected, there are new machines too, with robotic mammoths, pterodactyls, and giant turtles making appearances.
Horizon Forbidden West doesn"t have a release window attached to it yet, so we could be looking at a 2021 release instead of being a launch title on the PlayStation 5.
While the sequel is coming exclusively to the next-generation Sony console, the original game from 2017 is shedding its exclusivity and heading towards a PC release, though a proper release date hasn"t been announced for that version either.
