Sony opens up sign-ups for its System Software Update 5.0 beta for PlayStation 4

As Sony prepares the next System Software Update for its PlayStation 4 console, the firm is creating a beta so that those interested can take an early look. Starting today, if you"d like to take part, you can sign up for the beta and, if chosen, have a chance to check out the 5.0 update before it hits the mainstream.

Although today is the first day that sign-ups have opened, the process will remain open until the beginning of August, when the beta will begin. Unfortunately, Sony has not given up any details about what players can expect to see in this latest update. If you are chosen to be a part of the program, you will get an email with instructions on how to download the beta version of the PlayStation 4 software.

If you"re going to sign up using your PlayStation 4, be sure to use the Master Account on the console. Also, the beta software is not permanent, so if you feel the need to roll back to a stable public release, you can do so. For more details, be sure to head to the registration page.
