Last week"s E3 gaming expo was one of the best in recent years, but it looks like Sony decided to hold back some of its announcements for after the show. The company today announced a refreshed version of its PlayStation 4, as well as a new model with more onboard storage.
The "new" PS4 (CUH-1200) is now 10% lighter and uses 8% less power than the model it replaces (CUH-1100). The only other notable change is that a section of glossy bodywork has now been replaced with a matte finish for a more "casual design", according to Sony.
Microsoft made a similar decision to add a matte finish to its new Xbox One 1TB - and Sony has also followed in Microsoft"s footsteps by adding an equivalent model to its range.
Sony has unveiled the "PlayStation 4 Ultimate Player 1TB Edition", which it says will launch "in select Europe and PAL territories" from July 15. However, the company hasn"t yet revealed local pricing details for the new version, advising only that you "check with your local retailer".
