If you thought Samsung was bad when it comes to delivering updates for its Android devices, spare a thought for owners of Sony"s Xperia line. While Samsung finally began its Android 6.0 rollout last month, Sony"s efforts have remained almost entirely in beta, five months after Marshmallow was officially released.
While a tiny handful of Sony"s Xperia Z5 flagships have apparently received Android 6.0 in certain markets in recent weeks, it looks like the company is finally gearing up for a wider Marshmallow rollout.
As Android Authority reports, Sony has announced that the update is now available for the Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium in its home market of Japan, starting with those devices sold by leading domestic carrier NTT DoCoMo.
Sony has also indicated that Marshmallow will arrive in the UK next week for the Xperia Z5 series, Xperia Z4 tablet and the Xperia Z3+.
It seems that the long wait for Android 6.0 on Sony"s Xperia devices is gradually coming to an end - although it will no doubt take a while longer for the update to make its way around the world.
