Sony reveals the games that will be 'optimized' for its new 4K-ready PlayStation 4 Pro

It"s been almost two months since Sony unveiled the PlayStation 4 Pro, which it refers to as its "most powerful games console ever". The wait for the new console is almost at an end, as it will officially go on sale next Thursday, November 10.

The PS4 Pro promises support for high dynamic range (HDR) and 4K resolution, although Sony admitted in September that the majority of games "will be upscaled" to 4K, at least initially. That prompted Microsoft to point out that all first-party games launching alongside its Project Scorpio console, due next year, will "natively render at 4K".

Even so, Sony says that from day one, PlayStation 4 Pro gamers can still expect "enhanced performance via boosted CPU and GPU... and faster, more stable frame rates" when playing a range of titles on the new console. The company has published a list of games "optimized" for the PS4 Pro that will be take advantage of those improved capabilities on launch day:

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered
  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

  • Helldivers
  • Hitman
  • Hustle Kings
  • inFAMOUS First Light
  • inFAMOUS Second Son
  • Knack
  • Mafia III

  • Neon Chrome
  • Paragon

Sony points out that "some games have updates to add Pro support, while more recent titles like Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare have Pro enhancements built into the base game".

It added that by the end of 2016, a total of 45 games will be optimized for the new console, including these additions to the list above:

  • Watch Dogs 2

  • Killing Floor 2

  • The Last Guardian

  • Final Fantasy XV

Nioh, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and For Honor will join the list in early 2017. From next year, all first-party games will be PS4 Pro-optimized, including:

  • Gravity Rush 2

  • Horizon Zero Dawn

  • Days Gone

  • Gran Turismo Sport
