After taking the covers off a new game in its flagship series, God of War, Sony has unveiled yet another title called "Days Gone". The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. Players will assume the role of Deacon St. John, a bounty hunter who is a biker as well. Days Gone is being developed by Bend Studio, the same team that released Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the PS Vita.
Another 10-minute gameplay video was posted on YouTube as well, but it has now been pulled. Regardless, the gameplay shown at E3 displayed tons of zombie-like feral creatures, called "Freakers". Freakers are divided into two categories; Newts and Horde. The former are humans which were infected when they were young, and are opportunistic hunters who attack from the shadows. Meanwhile, as the name implies, the Horde is a group made up of hundreds of individual Freakers which act as one.
The game"s description states:
This is a brutal world, where everyone and everything is struggling to survive – but hopefully, the trailer shows that the game is about more than that. It’s about desperation, hope, transformation, loss, madness, discovery, friendship, exploration, brotherhood, regret and love. In the end, Days Gone is about what makes us human. It’s about how even when confronted with such enormous tragedy, we find a reason to live. Hope never dies.
Days Gone will feature an open world with the pandemic wiping out most of the civilization when it broke out two years ago. The game sports sandbox-styled exploration as well, and boasts epic combat, crafting, alternate paths and traps. A release window for Days Gone hasn"t been announced as of yet, although we do know that it will be making its way to the PlayStation 4 soon.
