Its been a fairly active month for Sony, a company that is usually pretty dormant when it comes to new product releases for the United States. Luckily, those in the U.S. will finally be able to get their hands on the Xperia Z2. Not to be mistaken for the Xperia Z2 tablet we covered a few weeks ago, this Z2 is Sony"s flagship handset for 2014.
The Xperia Z2 has a 5.2” TRILUMINOS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB storage with microSD expansion, 20.7MP camera, and a 2.2MP front-facing camera. The device also has dual front-facing speakers, is waterproof and dust resistant with a IPX5 and IPX8 rating.
The device will be available in three colors (black, purple, and white) and be priced at $749.99. Currently, the device is $50 less than its suggested MSRP ($699.99), but is sold out and on backorder. While this might be tempting and is priced reasonably for an unlocked handset, the recent leak of Sony"s upcoming successor to the Z2, the Z3 might make you think twice about purchasing this newly released handset.
