Microsoft introduced the Insider Hub on Xbox One as a way to have users of the system test out upcoming features and applications before it is released to the general public. The program, which recently closed to new applicants, rolls out a new update depending on your preferences, or risk appetite. However, a feature listing rolled out to participants in the program revealed some interesting new information about an upcoming update.
Discovered by Xbox Dynasty, a couple of new features were discovered ahead of the planned rollout which could make several Xbox fans quite happy. For several years the team was asked if it will be possible to manage and modify the home screen on the Xbox One in the future; but up to now, this was decided by Microsoft. The change-log reads as follows:
- Copy all games & apps: With the latest update, it will be easier to copy games back and forth. Once you have copied your entire game collection to the external hard disk, you can enjoy the “Copy / move all” selection.
- Edit your start screen: The look and feel of the new dashboard has been updated to set speed. In addition, individual customization options are brought into focus. With the latest update, you can easily change your home screen (Home) and customize it to suit your needs. Friends or favorite games can also be placed on the home screen. The box is then placed on the start screen and this can be moved like the pins.
Beyond that, gamers will get the ability to copy all the contents of the internal hard drive to an externally connected drive. Currently, you have to individually copy or move games, which can take some time, depending on the size of your library. This could be a boon for those who might upgrade to the upcoming Xbox One X and might need more space; since it is rumored that games could have install files as large as 100GB to accommodate the 4K assets introduced by the new system.
Although no release date has been shared for these features, it shouldn"t be long before you can edit your home screen to suit your personal style.
