Ubisoft has announced a further delay for South Park: The Fractured But Whole, the follow-up game to The Stick of Truth, which was released in early 2014, months later than originally planned.
The new game was due to launch on December 6, 2016, but in September, Ubisoft announced that its release had been pushed back to the first quarter of this year. At the time, the company said: "The development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal."
But it seems that even more time is needed to complete the game"s development to the required standard. Ubisoft has said that The Fractured But Whole won"t be released until the company"s next fiscal year, which begins in April, and ends in March 2018.
Unfortunately, that"s as specific as Ubisoft is getting when it comes to committing to the game"s new release date - presumably to avoid further disappointment for fans.
When it eventually arrives, South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. At the time of publishing this article, the Xbox One pre-order page still indicated that the game would be released by March 31, 2017.
